R.U.S.H – Rehabilitation Using Spiritual Habits
Romans 6:11-13 “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Drug addiction is an ever increasing problem in our society and can have extremely destructive consequences for it’s victims. If you have been exposed to the harsh reality of drug addiction, whether directly or indirectly through the struggles of a loved one, you will understand the seriousness of this problem. Drugs are more commonly available now than ever before and reports indicate that more than 15% of the population in South Africa consume illegal drugs. Drug addiction is dangerous, it destroys lives and families, and affects all levels of society.
We believe that through the power of Christ, appropriate medical care where needed, as well as psychological intervention and a strong social and spiritual support system, that the victims of drug addiction can hope to find freedom, rehabilitation and restoration. Our R.U.S.H ministry aims to help those struggling with addiction by meeting in small groups, encouraging and motivating one another in the Lord and by building strong relationships with other Christians who have successfully overcome addiction. We minister to the needs of the groups members and ensure that they are actively connected to their local church.
R.U.S.H groups are open to everyone, whether battling with illegal or prescription drug addictions, or more common addictions like smoking, eating disorders, etc. Our goal is to create a safe environment for group members to share their struggles, and therefore everything that is discussed in a RUSH group is treated as strictly confidential.
James 5:16 “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”
