30 Day Church Challenge Part 4: What Will You Invest In?

Recorded 15 October 2017 AM
/ David Horton / 2017 / 30 Day Church Challenge

Acts 20:32-35, “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (NIV)

In this part of our ’30 Day Church Challenge’ series, we look at the fourth purpose of the church: Stewardship. In this sermon, we see that Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. This might seem like a paradox, but what Jesus meant was the following: 1) Giving delivers all of us from us, 2) Giving frees us from the grip of materialism, 3) Giving frees us from the burden of depending on money to make us happy, 4) Giving unites us with our brothers and sisters, 5) Giving brings us closer to God.

Are you up for the challenge this week? To commit to increasing our stewardship through giving and serving.
